SALISBURY, MD – The York College volleyball squad dropped their final regular season road game of the year as they fell to Salisbury University, 3-1, in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday in Salisbury, MD.
The Sea Gulls won the match 25-15, 23-25, 25-18, and 25-22. Salisbury improves to 18-9 overall and 3-4 in the league. The Spartans drop their sixth straight as they fall to 9-20 overall and 2-5 in the league.
The Spartans were led by junior Alison Dorsey (Elkridge, Md./Long Branch) as the middle hitter had 11 kills with just one error as she hit .435 for the match. Senior Katie Huston (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) added 10 kills and four block assists in the loss.
Senior Kristin Martinak (Hanover, Pa./South Western) dished out 29 assists while she also had nine digs, three block assists, three kills, and a pair of service aces. Junior Katherine Graziano (Elkridge, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and sophomore Sarah Wukitch (East Greenville, Pa./Southern Lehigh) led the Spartan defense with 14 digs each.
Julie Poston led the Sea Gulls with a match-high 20 kills as she hit a blistering .581 for the match in 31 attacks. Katie Stouffer added 11 kills for the Salisbury offense. Michelle Meehan paced the Salisbury defense with 17 digs.
Salisbury hit .246 as a team in the match while York hit .122. The Sea Gulls had one more error (22-21) in the match but had 20 more kills.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday night when they host Penn State Harrisburg in a Capital Athletic Conference contest. Game time is set for 7:00 pm. The Green and White will honor their three seniors prior to the contest.
