YORK, PA – The York College volleyball squad cruised to a 3-0 Capital Athletic Conference victory over Wesley College on Wednesday night in York.
The game scores were 25-8, 25-14, and 25-15. The Spartans improve to 9-14 overall and 2-0 in the CAC while the Wolverines fall to 11-9 overall and 1-2 in the league.
The Spartans jumped out to big leads in all three sets as they notched their second conference win of the year.
The Spartans were paced by junior Charlotte Sabatano (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) as she banged out a match-high 10 kills as she hit .368 in the win. Sabatano added two service aces, three digs, one solo block, and two block assists. Junior Emma Geisser (Derwood, Md./Magruder) added seven kills in 15 attempts with one error as she hit .400. Senior Jackie Schwarm (Lantham, Md./Homeschooled) contributed four kills in just one set of action for York.
Senior Kristin Martinak (Hanover, Pa./South Western) handed out 15 assists while she also had four service aces, four digs and one block assist.
Freshman Kayla Gibbs (York, Pa./York Suburban) led the Spartan defense with a match-high nine digs.
Jessica Tynes led the Wolverines with four kills. Codi Ziolkowski had 11 assists and three kills while Meghan Marshall had a team-high eight digs.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they travel to Buena Vista, Virginia to face the Southern Virginia Knights. The match is slated for a 4:00 pm start.
