YORK, PA – York College senior volleyball player Ashley Rineman (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) earned first-team All-Capital Athletic Conference honors as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
Rineman makes her third appearance on the All-CAC squad, as she was second-team selection as a sophomore in 2010 and a first-team libero in 2011.
Rineman capped her impressive Spartan career in 2012 as she led the team in digs, digs per game, total service aces, and serve reception percentage. Rineman collected 669 digs, 5.11 digs per game, 52 service aces, and a .946 serve receive percentage.
The senior capped her career with 2,545 digs, good for second on the Spartans' all-time list, 190 service aces, and a .930 serve receive percentage in 2,341 attempts in her 133 career matches.
Rineman also had 31 kills, 134 assists, and 221 total points.
Spartan head coach Sue DuMars was happy to see her senior captain earn the all-conference accolades.
"Despite our final record, Ashley was fantastic for us," says DuMars. "She is a highly competitive kid that gave everything she had when she was on the court. Ashley will go down as one of the best defensive players we have ever had at York College. It was good to see her get recognized by the conference coaches."
Rineman established a number of career standards in 2012. She had a career-high 43 digs in the September 21 match against Rochester. She had 32 matches with double figures in digs, 15 matches with a digs total in the 20's, two matches with 33 digs, and then her career-high 43 dig effort. She established a season-high with five service aces in the September 15 match against Kean. Rineman tied her career-high with four assists in the September 1 match against Lebanon Valley.
For the third year in a row, Rineman paced the Capital Athletic Conference in digs as she averaged 5.11 per game. Her 669 digs were 96 more than the next closest player in the conference. Rineman also ranks eighth in the CAC in service aces.
Rineman is the seventh Spartan to be a three-time All-CAC selection. Becky Toms was York's lone four-time All-CAC pick. Rineman joins Leah Peters, Holly Cross, Jill Crouse-Wolf, Kerry Casperson, and Brandy Overlander as three-time honorees.
