Spartan Volleyball Falls at St. Mary's

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The York College women's volleyball squad dropped a 3-0 Capital Athletic Conference decision at St. Mary's College on Thursday night in St. Mary's City, MD.

The Spartans fall to 6-23 overall and 1-4 in the CAC while the Seahawks improve to 13-7 overall and 3-2 in the league.

The scores were 25-19, 25-15, and 25-14.

The Spartan offense was led by senior Dani Mastroieni (Chalfont, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) as she had six kills, ten digs, and two block assists. Katie Huston (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) and Emma Geiser (Derwood, Md./Magruder) each contributed four kills to a Spartan offense that only tallied 23 kills in the three-set match.

Freshman Allie Donahue (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) dished out 16 assists while she also had seven digs and three kills. Senior Ashley Rineman (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) paced York's defense with a match-high 13 digs.

Shelby Mullennix recorded a match-high 11 kills to lead the Seahawk offense.

St. Mary's hit .196 in the sweep while York hit just .031.

The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they travel to Muhlenberg College to participate in a tri-match with the Mules and Gettysburg College. York plays Muhlenberg at 4:00 pm and Gettysburg at 6:00 pm.
