Volleyball Falls at #24 Salisbury
SALISBURY, MD – The 24th ranked Salisbury University Sea Gulls improved to 9-1 with a 3-0 victory over the York College volleyball squad on Wednesday night in Salisbury, Md.
The Spartans fall to 2-8 for the campaign and 0-1 in the CAC. The game scores were 25-6, 25-21, and 25-12.
The Spartans had little offense going during the match as they accumulated just 17 kills and hit a season-low -.028 in the loss.
Senior Dani Mastroieni (Chalfont, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) and Jessica Moyer (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) each had four kills in the setback. Freshman setter Brandi Kinard (Seven Valleys, Pa./Spring Grove) led York with 12 digs while she also had five assists. Senior Ashley Rineman (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) and freshman Allie Donahue (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) each notched 10 digs for York.
The Sea Gulls had a good offensive night as they hit .226 with 38 kills in 106 attempts. Salisbury also accumulated 62 digs to 49 for the Spartans.
The Spartans return to action Friday night when they face Swarthmore and Stevens at the Stevens Ducks Classic in Hoboken, N.J. The Swarthmore match is slated for 6:00 pm followed by an 8:00 pm match against Stevens.
