Rineman and Bucher Honored by the CAC

YORK, PA – The York College volleyball team had two players earn 2011 All-Capital Athletic Conference honors as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon. Junior libero Ashley Rineman earned first-team accolades while senior captain Heather Bucher earned second-team honors for the Green and White.

Rineman earned her second All-CAC honor after being named a second-team pick in 2010. She has continued to be one of the best liberos in the region. Rineman finished her season averaging 5.21 digs per game in her 121 sets played. She received serve at 94.7% while she served at 88.5%. Rineman recorded a team-high 42 aces in 468 service attempts for the year.

Rineman finished the season with a conference-leading 630 digs and a league-best 5.21 digs per game average. She recorded three matches of 30-plus digs while she had 13 other matches with 20-plus digs. She reached double figures in 30 of her 33 matches for the campaign. Rineman established a season-high 32 digs in the November 3 CAC Semifinal match at Stevenson. She will enter her senior year with 1,876 in 98 career matches. Rineman has also notched 138 career service aces for York.

Bucher received her first all-conference honor after completing her stellar four-year career. Bucher was a three-year captain for the Spartans and concluded her career with a fantastic senior campaign. She played in and started all 33 of the Spartan matches for the year. She banged out 274 kills for an average of 2.26 kills per game while she hit .128 for the year. Bucher added 129 assists, 346 digs, 38 service aces, and 50 blocks. She received serve at 92.2% while she served at 88.3% with 0.31 service aces per game.

Bucher concludes her career with 925 kills, 1,154 digs, 641 assists, 148 service aces, and 214 blocks in 478 games played. She tied her career high in kills with 16 in the October 11 match at Stevenson while she also established a career-high five service aces at Dickinson on September10. The Spartans won 80 matches during Bucher's four-year career.

Rineman leads a group of three returning starters for the Spartans in 2012.
