SELINSGROVE, PA – The York College volleyball squad dropped a tough non-conference contest at Susquehanna University, 3-2, on Wednesday night in Selinsgrove, PA. The Spartans fall to 13-16 with the defeat while the Crusaders improve to 17-15.
The game scores were 25-21, 23-25, 24-26, 25-14, and 17-15.
The Spartans were paced by the career-high effort of sophomore Jessica Moyer as she banged out 22 kills in 59 attempts as she hit .271 for the match. Senior Julie Coombs added 15 kills and 11 digs for the Green and White. Coombs hit a blistering .306 for the match. Senior Cortni Rentzel handed out 51 assists while she also had 18 digs, two block assists and a career-high seven kills as she hit .357 for the night. Junior libero Ashley Rineman recorded 26 digs while senior Heather Bucher contributed 19 digs, six kills, and eight assists.
Emily Carson led the Crusaders with a match-high 25 kills while she also had 22 digs. Natalie Cicioni (12 kills) and Kaylee Monga (10 kills) also reached double figures in kills while Kate Reese led the Crusader defense with a match-high 27 digs.
The Spartans conclude their regular season on Saturday afternoon as they host Goucher College and PSU-Berks in a tri-match. York faces Goucher at 1:00 pm followed by the Gophers and Lions squaring off at 3:00 pm. The Spartans then play Berks at 5:00 pm. That contest will be preceded by Senior Day Ceremonies as the four Spartan seniors will be honored before the contest.
