Eagles Slip By Spartans in CAC Tilt

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The York College volleyball squad dropped a 3-1 Capital Athletic Conference decision at the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday night in Fredericksburg, VA. The Eagles improve to 14-4 overall and 4-1 in the CAC while the Spartans fall to 10-9 for the year and 2-3 in the conference.

The game scores were 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, and 25-16.

York was paced by the duo of Katie Huston and Heather Bucher. Huston had eight kills and hit .238 for the match. She also had a pair of service aces, three digs, and a block assist. Bucher notched eight kills, six assists, and 18 digs. Sophomore Jessica Moyer added nine kills and 10 digs for York.

Senior Cortni Rentzel handed out 32 assists while she also had 17 digs for the Spartan defense. Junior Ashley Rineman collected a match-high 22 digs for the Green and White.

Laura Gomez paced the Eagles with 10 kills while Tola Adebanjo chipped in with nine kills. Katie Shiflett handed out 34 assists while Christine Tran notched 19 digs.

The Spartans return to action next Wednesday when they travel to Stevenson University to face the Mustangs in a CAC contest. Game time is slated for 7:00 pm.
