CARLISLE, PA - The York College volleyball squad swept their two matches during the second day of the Dickinson College Red Devil Volleyball Invitational on Saturday in Carlisle, PA. The Spartans blanked Lebanon Valley and the host Red Devils en route to finishing 3-1 for the tournament.
The scores against Lebanon Valley were 25-15, 26-24, and 25-19 while the Dickinson scores were 25-19, 25-23, and 25-21. York is now 5-3 overall while the Red Devils are 2-6 and the Flying Dutchmen are 5-2.
In the win over the Flying Dutchmen, senior Heather Bucher and sophomore Jessica Moyer led the Spartan offense with 10 kills each. Bucher added 14 digs, three assists, and a trio of block assists for the Spartans. Moyer contributed one solo block and two block assists for a team-high 12 points. Freshman Katie Huston added seven kills, two service aces and five block assists as she tied Bucher with 11.5 points in the match.
Against Dickinson, Huston was outstanding as the middle hitter notched 13 kills with no errors as she hit .565 for the match. She also had three block assists for a total of 15.5 points, which led the Green and White. Bucher and fellow senior Julie Coombs each had nine kills for York. Bucher also had five service aces for the Spartans as she finished the match with 14 points.
Rentzel distributed 35 assists while Rineman was the lone Spartan in double figures in digs with 18.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday night when they host Hood in a Capital Athletic Conference opener. The action from Wolf Gym is set to start at 7:00 pm.
