ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The York College volleyball squad advanced to the semifinals of the 2010 Capital Athletic Conference tournament with a 3-0 victory at fourth-seeded St. Mary's College on Tuesday night. St. Mary's maintained the lead between three and six points until York cut the lead to 19-18 after an Alishia Waltermyer kill. Freshman Jessica Moyer tied the game at 22 on a kill. That kill was a part of 5-1 run that gave the Spartans a 24-22 lead. York increased the lead to 11-4 before the Seahawks went on a 6-1 run to cut the York lead to 12-10. St. Mary's drew to within one at 15-14 but the Spartans responded with a 7-0 run to build their advantage to 22-14. St. Mary's cut the Spartan lead to four at 15-11 but the Green and White blitzed the hosts with a match-ending 10-3 run to punch their ticket to the conference semifinals.
Moyer was outstanding for the Spartans as the freshman stepped up when York needed her the most. She banged out 15 kills and hit .382 for the match. Beshore contributed nine kills and eight total blocks while junior Julie Coombs added seven kills and a match-high 19 digs. Sophomore libero Ashley Rineman notched 18 digs and three service aces.
