YORK, Pa. – For the second time in the 2010 fall season,
York College senior volleyball standout Alysse Beshore has garnered
Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week honors. Beshore, the first repeat
winner this year, helped the Green and White to a 2-0 week,
improving to 25-4 overall
In the Spartans' Tuesday home match against Capital Athletic
Conference foe Wesley, Beshore led the squad with eight kills in 14
attempts and only committed two errors in the 3-0 York triumph. She
also posted two service aces, one block solo, and two block
assists.
On Thursday, the Spartans hosted another conference foe as
Marymount (Va.) invaded Charles Wolf Gymnasium. Beshore registered
an even better contest as she led the home side with 17 kills on 25
attempts with an incredible zero errors. The talented senior also
contributed on the defensive side with six digs, one block solo,
and two block assists in aiding the Green and White to a 5-2 CAC
mark
For the season, Beshore leads the Green and White with 295 kills,
good for 2.92 per set, while she is hitting at a strong .327 rate.
She also leads York with 13 block solos while totaling 61 block
assists, the second highest mark on the squad.
Beshore's selection also marks the fourth time this season that
a volleyball player has been chosen as the Spartan
Athlete-of-the-Week. The squad has put together an excellent 25-4
mark this season including a string of 21 straight victories.
Beshore and the Spartans return to action on Wednesday, October 27.
York travels to Salisbury, Md. to take on the always tough Sea
Gulls at 7:00 pm in the Spartans final CAC regular season match of
the season.
