Moyer Selected as Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week

YORK, Pa. - Dominating the York College Spartan Invitational this weekend gives freshman volleyball standout Jessica Moyer the privilege of being the newest Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week. The rookie put together an outstanding performance, providing the Green and White with four astounding wins.

The York squad had captured the invitational's championship, boosting their record to 16-1, and a school record 15th consecutive win. With the Spartan's invitational title, the Green and White have now won three in-season tournament championships.

For this weekend Moyer posted 45 kills good for a 3.21 kill per set ratio. In the first match up against John Hopkins, she was unstoppable with 14 kills as she helped the Green and White to a five-set triumph. Against Carnegie Mellon, her 20 kills, including a terrific late burst in the fifth set, led York to yet another five-set victory. Her accomplishment this weekend has put her total numberof kills up to 131, fourth in team leaders.

She not only was outstanding on the front line, but her defense also deserves much recognition as she accumulated 19 digs for a 1.36 digs per set ratio.
