Beshore Powers Spartans Past Bullets

GETTYSBURG, PA – The York College volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 non-conference win at Gettysburg College on Tuesday night. The Spartans won the match by scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-22.

York improves to 3-1 overall while the Bullets fall to 3-2 for the campaign.

The Spartans were paced by the reigning Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week Alysse Beshore, as the senior middle hitter was dominant. She hit a blistering .571 for the match, driving home 14 kills with just two errors in 21 attempts. Beshore also had three digs and three block assists. Junior Julie Coombs was the other Spartan in double figures with 11 kills and a .292 attack percentage. Coombs also had eight digs, a block assist and a service ace.

Setter Cortni Rentzel handed out 40 assists while she also collected four digs in engineering the Spartan offense. Freshman Jessica Moyer continued her strong early season play with eight kills, three digs, and two block assists. Sophomore Ashley Rineman spearheaded the Spartans' defensive effort with 15 digs while she also was strong on serve with three aces.

The Spartans return to action on Friday when they travel to the Dickinson College Tournament.
