Waltermyer named to the All-CAC Squad

YORK, PA-York College sophomore middle hitter Alishia Waltermyer (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) has been named to the 2008 Capital Athletic Conference All-CAC Volleyball team as announced by the conference. Waltermyer earned second-team accolades after an outstanding season that saw her lead the 19-15 Spartans in a number of different categories.

Waltermyer finished the campaign having played in 30 matches and 110 sets. She accumulated 256 kills as she averaged a team-best 2.33 kills per set. She hit a blistering .320 as she ranked third in the CAC in attack percentage. Waltermyer notched a team-best 94 total blocks, good for an average of 0.85 blocks per set. She finished the campaign with 325.5 points, good for a team-best average of 2.96 points per set.

Spartan head coach Sue DuMars appreciates the effort of Waltermyer this year.

“Alishia became a much stronger hitter this year and was consistently our biggest offensive threat during the year,” says DuMars. “She is always in great, game shape, ready to work hard and compete.”

Waltermyer will headline a strong core of returners in 2009 as the Spartans look to reestablish themselves at the top of the CAC.
