YORK, PA-The York College women’s
volleyball squad recorded a 3-0 win over Franklin & Marshall
College in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon in York. The
Spartans, who kicked off the athletic portion of the York College
Fall Fest Weekend, improve to 12-9 overall while the Diplomats fall
to 4-12 overall.
The set scores for the match were 27-25, 25-23, and 25-19. The
Spartans were not as crisp as they have been in previous home
matches but they were good enough to post a victory.
The Spartans were paced by freshman Sierra Dell (Glen Rock,
Pa./Susquehannock) as she registered nine kills en route
to posting a .389 attack percentage. Dell also had three block
assists as she led the green and white with 10.5 points for the
match. Freshman Heather Bucher (Carlisle,
Pa./Carlisle) continues to put up impressive numbers
across the board. Bucher had six kills, ten digs, three service
aces, and two assists for York. Freshman setter Cortni
Rentzel (Mt. Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) handed out 20 assists
and had 12 digs for a double-double. Rentzel also had a kill and a
solo block in the win. Sophomore Alishia Waltermyer
(Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) chipped in with six kills and a
block assist for York. Junior libero Amanda Clemens
(Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) led the Spartans’
defensive effort with 17 digs.
The green and white return to action on Wednesday night as they
host Marymount in a Capital Athletic Conference contest. Game time
is set for 7:00 pm.
