
FREDERICK, MD-The York College women’s
volleyball squad rolled to a 3-0 Capital Athletic Conference
victory at Hood College on Wednesday night in Frederick, MD. The
Spartans captured the match by scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-8.
York improves to 17-11 overall and concludes their CAC regular
season with a mark of 4-4. The Blazers fall to 2-17 overall and 0-7
in the conference.
The Spartans received an outstanding effort from sophomore
Alishia Waltermyer (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) as she
had 11 kills and no errors in 17 attempts, good for a .647
attack percentage. Waltermyer also had seven total blocks as she
accumulated a team-best 15.5 points for the match. Freshman
Heather Bucher (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) had a
great offensive night as she had seven kills in 11 attempts for a
.636 attack percentage. Bucher also had three assists, a service
ace and two digs. Sophomore Alysse Beshore (York,
Pa./Northeastern) added nine kills as she hit .667 for the
match. Junior Casi Brough (Hanover, Pa./Spring
Grove) and freshman Sierra Dell (Glen Rock,
Pa./Susquehannock) each played well offensively. Brough
had eight kills and hit .500 while she led the Spartan defense with
13 digs. Dell hit .467 with eight kills in addition to a block
assist.
Junior setter Amanda Rouillard (Woodbine,
Md./Glenelg) led the Spartans with 18 assists while she
added nine digs for YCP. Freshman setter Cortni Rentzel
(Mt. Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) chipped in with 17 assists
and five digs.
The Spartans hit a season-high .500 as a team as they had 44 kills
and just four errors in 80 attempts in the match.
York returns to action this weekend when they travel to Eastern
University to take on the Eagles and the Widener Pride in a
tri-match.
