YORK, PA-The York College volleyball squad recorded a pair of victories Saturday evening, defeating Lincoln University and Villa Julie College by a combined score of 6-0. With the win, the Spartan records bumps to 19-4 (5-1 CAC), while Lincoln falls to 4-13 and Villa Julie drops to 12-8 (1-5 CAC).
In the win over Lincoln, the Spartans dominated the Lions as they surrendered just 21 points to the Lions. York won the match 30-4, 30-7, and 30-10. All the Spartans dressed for the match played as the statistics were spread out among the 15 players that saw action. Sophomore Amanda Clemens (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) led the Spartan offense as she had six kills in two games played. Middle hitter Heather Toth (Longmont, Col./Niwot) added five kills in 12 attempts with no errors as she continues her steady play. Freshman Theresa Heintz (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) chipped in with four kills in game three. Senior Katie Hertz (Glenville, Pa. / Delone Catholic) handed out 26 assists while she also had five service aces and five digs.
The Spartans hit .333 for the match as they banged home 14 service aces in the match while they also have five total blocks.
In the win over Villa Julie, the Spartans blanked the Mustangs winning all three games 30-20, 32-30, and 30-16. Lindsay Schorner (Spring Grove, Pa. /Spring Grove) led the way offensively for the green and white registering 16 kills in 40 attempts, while also notching 12 digs. Freshman Alisha Waltermyer (Brogue, Pa. /Red Lion) hammered home 13 kills as fellow rookie Toth also contributed ten kills and four block assists. Hertz steadied the Spartan attack as she handed out 43 helpers to go along with 15 digs. Laura Krajewski (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) played well from her libero position, consistently keeping the Mustangs at bay by garnering a team-high 21 digs.
York returns to the court Wednesday, October 10 as they host CAC rival Salisbury. The match is slated to begin at 7:00 pm.
