Spartan Women's Track & Field Opens Spring at Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The York College women's track and field squad opened their 2018 outdoor schedule with a trip to Fredericksburg, Virginia to participate in the Mary Washington Eagle Opener on Saturday.

The Spartans had a number of strong performances as pole vaulters Katie Krutz and Olivia Miller finished one-two in the event.

York also had a number of athletes earn multiple top ten finishes. Georgia Gillcrist finished second in the 400 meter run and fifth in the 200 meter dash. Emily Clark finished third in the triple jump and sixth in the high jump. Thrower Gabby Emeigh notched three top ten finishes as she was fourth in the javelin, fifth in the discus and seventh in the hammer throw.

"Overall, it was a good start to the outdoor campaign, albeit a cold one," said Spartan head coach Stephen LoBianco. "We will now look to get a good ten days of training in before we host our home meet on March 28."
