SHIPPENSBURG, PA – The York College women's track and field squad participated in the 2014 Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg University on Saturday in Shippensburg, PA.
There was no team score kept in the large and predominately Division II meet.
The Spartans received a number of strong performances on the day. The distance crew provided York with plenty of highlights led by junior Jess Miller (Dauphin, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) as she placed second in the 10,000 meter run. Miller notched a time of 41:08.91. She was joined by Steph Bower (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and Danielle Jarsocrak (Sinking Springs, Pa./Conrad Weiser) in the top six of the race. Bower finished fifth as she clocked in with a time of 42:45.05 while Jarsocrak placed sixth with a time of 43:26.
Junior Caroline DeLany (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) notched a fourth place finish in the 5K, crossing the line in a time of 19:31.91.
In the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase, a pair of Spartans performed well. Jenna Roberts (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) placed fourth in the field as she clocked in with a time of 12:41.96. Teammate Kasey Fogelsanger (Owings Mills, Md./Mercy) notched an eighth place finish as she registered a time of 13:13.40.
Spartan freshman Emily Cronise (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) finished 16th in the highly competitive 800 meter race as she finished with a time of 2:22.15.
The Spartans return to action a week from today as they participate in the 2014 Capital Athletic Conference championships hosted by Christopher Newport University. The championships are a two day event that concludes on Sunday afternoon.
