York, Pa. – The York College women's track and field team finished third out of eight teams with a total of 127 points in their home meet, the Green & White Invite, on Saturday.
Dickinson finished on top of the women's side with 178 total points and Lebanon Valley came in a close second with 171 points.
The freshmen throwers had an impressive day. Abbey Rhodes (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) had a strong finish in the shot put. Rhodes finished in second place with a throw of 11.02 meters. With the top finish of the day for the Spartans, Olivia Rehman (York, Pa./Central York) was solid earning first place in the javelin. Rehman recorded a throw of 33.58 meters. Rehman also had a seventh place finish in the discus with a heave of 28.22 meters. Senior Katie Shinn (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) looked good in the hammer throw with a fourth place finish and a toss of 32.76 meters.
Junior Laura Rowlands (Dover, Pa./Dover) was strong in the field as well. Rowlands earned two second place finishes. She finished the high jump in second with a height of 1.55 meters and then jumped 5.09 meters in the long jump for another second place finish.
Bethany Miller (York, Pa./York Suburban) was the top Spartan finisher in the pole vault. Miller recorded a height of 2.98 meters for second place. Ashley Razzano (Wawa, Pa./Garnet Valley) finished third with a height of 2.89 meters.
In triple jump, Dana Mangano (Wesminister, Md./Westminister) leaped 9.92 meters for a fifth place finish.
Jess Miller (Dauphin, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) looked solid during her distance races. Miller finished the 1,500-meter run in 4:58.04 for fifth place. She also ran in the 800 meters, finishing seventh in 2:30.12.
Also running well in distance was Stephanie Bower (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright). She finished the 5,000-meter run in fifth place with a time of 21:46.08.
Bria Jones (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) continued to look strong in the 100-meter dash. Jones recorded a second place finish with a time of 13.09. She also earned a sixth place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.32.
Senior Jackie Gibat (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) took home third place in the 400-meter hurdles after finishing in 1:13.52. Miller finished the 100-meter hurdles in fourth place with a time of 17.96.
The Spartans return to action on Friday at the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Invitational. The meet is set to start at 9:00 am.
