Spartans Compete at Susquehanna Invitational; DeLany Breaks Record at Bucknell

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The York College women's track and field team competed at the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Laura Rowlands (Dover, Pa./Dover) had a strong day in the field for the Spartans. Rowlands top finish of the day was first place in the high jump with a height of 1.57 meters. She also earned a second place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 10.58 meters. Rounding out the day, she placed fourth in long jump with a leap of 4.89 meters.

Dana Mangano (Westminster, Md./Westminster) earned herself a top-ten finish in the triple jump with a distance of 9.77 meters. Bethany Miller (York, Pa./York Suburban) jumped 1.47 meters in the high jump for a sixth place finish.

In the pole vault, Ashley Razzano (WaWa, Pa./Garnet Valley) was the top finisher for the Green and White. Razzano tied for third place finishing with a height of 2.60 meters.

On the track, Jess Miller (Dauphin, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) had the top finish for the Spartans. Miller came in fourth in the mile with a time of 5:28.98. Rachel Berninger (Willmington, Del./Brandywine) earned herself an eighth place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.85.

Bria Jones (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) ran a 28.26 in the 200-meter dash for a sixth place finish against a competitive field.

In throws, Katie Shinn (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) finished the weight throw in 17th with a heave of 9.74 meters.

Caroline DeLany (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) looked extremely strong at the Bucknell Invitational. DeLany broke the school record in the mile with a time of 5:22.26 and a 15th place finish against some extremely strong competition.

The Spartans will now gear up for the CAC Indoor Championships on Sunday, February 17 at 11:00 am.
