Rowlands Nabs Third CAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week Honor

YORK, Pa. - York College women's track & field sophomore standout Laura Rowlands was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Track & Field Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office earlier this week. This marks the third time in the 2011-2012 academic year that Rowlands has been recognized with the weekly honor.

The sophomore put together a terrific performance last Saturday at the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian. Rowlands placed in the top-ten in three individuals events, including two top-five finishes, while she also helped the Spartans to a new program record in the 4x100 relay.

Her highest finish came in the triple jump where she registered a third-place 11.05-meter (36' 3") distance. Taking fourth in the high jump at 1.57 meters (5' 1.75"), Rowlands took tenth overall in the long jump with a leap of 5.07 meters (16' 7.75").

She also combined with Donteris Spence, Jasmine Smith, and Deborah Fidele to lower York's 4x100 record. After dropping the mark the week before, the squad lowered it yet again with a time of 50.72.
