YORK, Pa. – The York College women's track & field squad picked up two Capital Athletic Conference weekly honors as Mandy Parshall was named the CAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week while Laura Rowlands collected the league's Women's Field Athlete of the Week accolade.
Parshall, who has already put together a terrific year, competed in a pair of meets last Saturday. At the Goucher Track & Field Classic, she won the 3,000-meter race with a time of 11:19.43. Parshall also raced at the Towson Invitational where she took seventh in the 1500 (4:52.55) and 14th in the 800 (2:27.40) while competing against primarily Division I student-athletes.
Rowlands garnered two victories and a third-place finish at the Goucher Classic. The talented Spartan rookie won the high jump with a leap of 1.57 meters while also capturing the triple jump with a distance of 10.47 meters. Rowlands would collect third in the long jump with a 4.81-meter result.
Parshall and Rowlands are the second and third Spartans to receive the honor this season as Kenyatta Redman was chosen as the CAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week last week.
The Spartan squad returns to action on Saturday, April 2, as York is slated to host the Green & White Invitational beginning at 10:00 am.
