Parshall Picks up Three Top Fours as Spartans Compete at Golden Ram Invitational

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The York College women's track & field team posted another strong performance on Saturday as the Spartans snagged nine top-ten finishes at the West Cheste Golden Ram Invitational. In the non-scored meet, the Green and White captured two runner-up times as they competed well.

Mandy Parshall had a superb performance as she placed in the top-four in three grueling races. Parshall best placing came in the 800 meters as she ran to a second-place result clocking a 2:28.50. Parshall also nabbed third in the 1500 with a 5:00.41 while also competing in the 3,000 where she timed an 11.01.41.

The Spartans also captured a second-place finish in the 4x100 relay. Amber Douglas, Kenyatta Redman, Laura Rowlands, and Donteris Spence combined to post a runner-up time of 51.49.

In the 100-meter dash, Redman took fifth with a 12.94 while Douglas registered a 13.23 in the event to finish 11th.

Aside from Parshall's showing in the 800, two more Spartans posted top-ten times. Anna Spaniol snagged fifth with a 2:30.38 while Megan Phillips came in ninth with a 2:33.33.

In the long jump, Spence leapt 15'4" to record a seventh-place finish.

In the 5,000 meters, Corie Thompson nabbed tenth with a 20:36.42.

York is slated to travel to nearby Messiah College on Wednesday, March 23. There the Spartans will take on both Messiah and Gettysburg in a tri-meet slated for a 3:30 pm start.
