Senior runner Mandy Parshall was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week as the York College women’s track & field squad picks up yet another CAC weekly honor. This marks the fifth time this season that a Spartan has garnered a weekly conference award and Parshall’s second of the year.
The York College women’s track & field team had a tremendous day at the 2011 Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg University. The Spartans set new program records in five different events while one of the marks proved a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships.
The York College Spartans women’s track & field team received terrific news on Tuesday as freshman Laura Rowlands was named the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Track & Field Rookie of the Year. Rowlands proved a tremendously successful performer for the Green and White as she won a trio of individual titles – sweeping the jumping events – while also contributing in York’s 4x100 relay triumph.
For the first time in the 2010-2011 academic year, the Spartan Athlete of the Week honor goes to two York College student-athletes. York College men’s track’s Ben Edwards and women’s track’s Laura Rowlands each led their squad to impressive finishes at the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference Championships held at York College.
The York College women’s track & field team did something no other Spartan women’s track program had done before as the 2011 squad took second-place at the annual Capital Athletic Conference Championships. Finishing either third or fourth in each year since the competition started in 1994, the Green and White captured second at the 2011 CAC Championships, posting 131 points. First-place Salisbury scored 183 while third-place Mary Washington took third with 107.
In their final meet before next Saturday’s Capital Athletic Conference Championships, the York College women’s track & field squad competed at the Messiah College Falcon Invitational in nearby Grantham, Pa. The Spartans, who used the meet as a tune-up event, placed 10th out of the 16 squads in attendance snagging 33 points.

Sophomore Tuesday Wilson and freshman Laura Rowlands set new records Saturday as the York College women’s track & field team won the 2011 Green & White Invitational at York. The Spartans collected nine event victories as they posted 184 points in the nine-team meet.

Freshman Laura Rowlands was named the Women’s Field Athlete-of-the-Year as the York College women’s track & field team finished fourth at the 2011 Mason Dixon Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, February 20. The Green and White posted 50 team points on the day, taking the fourth spot out of the nine competing schools.
The York College women’s track & field squad put together a quality showing Thursday evening at the Ursinus College Open indoor meet. The Spartans took third out of the six squads, tallying 106 points, while tying or breaking five school records.
The York College women’s track & field squad split their squad Saturday, sending contingents to the Thomson Invitational at the University of Delaware as well as the Lebanon Valley Invitational at Lebanon Valley College. The Spartans finished 13th out of the 24 Division I, II, and III squads at Delaware – competing in events against only Division II and III squads – and performed well at LVC.
The York College women’s track & field team kicked-off their 2010-2011 season on Saturday at the Dickinson Indoor Invitational. The Spartans snagged a third-place team finish, ending up with 86 points, out of the eight schools in attendance. York set several school records during the meet, a great sign for a solid season.
Erick Camodeca has recently been hired as the head coach of the men's and women's cross country and track & field programs as announced by Sean Sullivan, Assistant Dean of Athletics and Recreation, late last month.
