SELINSGROVE, PA – The York College women’s track & field squad competed Friday at the Susquehanna Open. The Green and White nabbed four top-five finishes during the meet.
York’s top individual finishes came in a pair of field events. In the pole vault, Caitlin Rizzardo (Jacobus, Pa./Dallastown) scaled a height of 9’ 6.25” to tie for fifth in her signature event. Two Spartans would tie for fifth in the high jump as Kate Paczynski (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) and Megan Verde (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) each posted a 4’ 8” result.
On the track, the Green and White nabbed another fifth-place spot. The exceptionally young crew of Gabrielle Harbin (Baltimore, Md./Mercy), Chelsea McCracken (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern), Amy Stickle (Randolph, N.J./Randolph), and Anna Spaniol (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) combined in the 4x400 relay to register a 4:30.93.
Spaniol snagged a solid tenth-place finish in the 800 meters with a 2:29.63 while 4x400 teammate Harbin posted a 2:33.32 to garner 13th.
Senior Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) took a top-15 finish of her own, as she finished 13th in the 5,000 meters.
York returns to action on March 13 when the Green and White will host the Spartan Spring Opener, their first outdoor meet of the season, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
