SELINSGROVE, PA – The York College women’s track and field team competed on Saturday February 13 at the Susquehanna Invitational. The Spartans left with a handful of top performances.
York’s top finish came in the 4x800 relay. Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled), Mackenzie Kauffman (Belleville, Pa./Indian Valley), Allyson Montello (Adamstown, Md. /Urbana), and Anna Spaniol (Hillsborough, N.J. /Hillsborough) finished third in the 4x8 with a time of 10:51.95.
During the 4x200 relay Alania Smelko (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney), Laura Zimmerman (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro), Spaniol, and Montello crossed the finish line in 1:57.72 to take sixth place.
On the field, junior pole vault Caitlin Rizzardo (Jacobus, Pa./Dallastown) tied for fifth scaling a height of 8’ 11.75”. Jesse Mast (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) tackled 8’ 0” in the event, leaving with 11th place.
Kate Paczynski (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) cleared 4”9.75” in the high jump event, tying for sixth. Megan Verde (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) tied for 12th in the event with a 4’ 6” height.
In the sand pit, Smelko took home sixth after landing 32’10.5” in the triple jump.
Back on the track, Parshall secured eleventh with a 20:26.37 in the 5,000 meters.
The Spartans return to Selinsgrove on February 19 for the Susquehanna Open, their final indoor meet of the season.
