YORK, PA – The York College women’s track & field team earned a second place finish on Wednesday afternoon on the York campus. The Spartans were topped by Messiah College but edged Gettysburg College and Washington Adventist University with 57 points.
Leading the way for York was a host of Spartans, beginning with Laura Zimmerman (Enola, Pa./ East Pennsboro) who picked up second in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 13.47.
Zimmerman was also a member of the 4 x 400 meter relay. The senior was joined by, Allyson Montello (Adamstown, Md./ Urbana), Anna Spaniol (Hillsborough, N.J/ Hillsborough), and Mandy Parshall (Dover, Pa./ Homeschooled), to outpace the Gettysburg College squad finishing with a time of 4:16.94.
In the 5,000-meter distance event, Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) scored the top spot with a time of 19:52.08 outpacing all other competitors by over forty-five seconds.
York captured the top two spots in the pole vault event. Spartans Caitlin Rizzardo (Jacobus, Pa./ Dallastown) and Jessica Mast (Cape May, N.J./ Lower Cape May Regional) vaulted heights of 2.75 and 2.59 meters, respectively.
In the high jump event Kate Paczynski (Marriottsville, Md./ Liberty), pulled out a second place in a jump-off. The Spartan jumped a height of 1.46 Meters.
Mackenzie Dolan (Toms River, N.J./ Toms River East) was the Spartans top finisher in the hammer throw. Dolan tossed the hammer 30.27 meters.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday March 27 at the Goucher Track & Field Classic. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am on the Baltimore, Md. campus.
