SELINSGROVE, PA – The York College women’s track and field team traveled to Susquehanna University Saturday for the second edition of the Susquehanna Indoor Meet. Four Spartans earned top-15 finishes including a pair of pole vaulters.
Freshman Caitlin Rizzardo (Jacobus, Pa./Dallastown) captured her tenth place spot in the pole vault with a height of nine feet, 0.25 inches. Junior Kristen Cronise (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) vaulted to eight feet, 6.25 inches to earn 12th in the event.
In the triple jump, Alaina Smelko (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) backed-up last week’s solid performance with a 12th place finish bounding 33 feet, 3.25 inches.
Melody Parshall’s (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) 5:46.47 time in the one mile was enough to place her 14th out of 37 runners.
The Spartans now embark on a three-week period in which they can prepare for their first official meet of the season on Saturday, March 8 in Salisbury, Md. The Salisbury Invitational is set to begin at 10:00 am.
