Spartans Finish Fourth at CAC Championships
SALISBURY, MD-The York College women’s track and field
squad finished fourth at the 2007 Capital Athletic Conference
championships at Salisbury, MD. Mary Washington edged Salisbury for
the team title, 200-196. Catholic finished third with 78 points
while the green and white recorded 55 points. Goucher had 54 points
to finish fifth while Hood placed last with six points.
The Spartans had three second place finishes in the event while
they also had two third place finishes.
Junior Sarah Becker (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) finished second in the
hammer as she recorded a throw of 133’11”. Sarah Moser
(Carlisle, PA/Boiling Springs) was the runner up in the javelin
with a toss of 104’5” while Alaina Smelko (Punxstawney,
PA/Punxstawney) was the third Spartan to earn All-CAC accolades
with her second place finish in the triple jump, notching a
distance of 32’3”.
Moser also recorded a third place finish in the shot as she
recorded a distance of 32’11”. Kristen Cronise
(Shrewsbury, PA/Susquehannock) was third in the pole vault with a
height of 9”0.25”.
The 4x100 relay team of Krissy Fritz (Lancaster,
PA/Lampeter-Strasburg), Smelko, Lauren DeSimone (Shrewsbury,
PA/Susquehannock), and Helen Noll (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling
Springs) combined to finish third in the event, recording a time of
54.05.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, April 28 when they
travel to the Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg
University.�
