Ryan Weber begins his fifth season at the helm of the women's program and the fourth year as head coach of the men's team. Weber brings a stability and consistency to the Spartan squad as he looks to build a successful program.
Weber before taking over both teams, Weber previously served as an assistant to both squads before being named the women's head coach for the 2008 campaign. In his first season with the women's team, Weber guided a young Spartan squad to a 5-11 mark with a 3-2 record in Capital Athletic Conference play. In the 2010 campaign, the Weber-led Green and White posted a 7-9 record as well as a 4-2 mark in CAC action. The Spartans had their best campaign under Weber in 2011 when York went 11-7 overall including 5-2 in the CAC. York was hit hard by injuries in 2012 when their record slipped to 6-11.
Overall, Weber is 29-38 in his four complete seasons including a 16-10 mark in the CAC.
Weber then took the reigns of the men's program beginning in the 2009-2010 academic year. Under his tutelage, the Spartan men put together an official 9-9 record including a 4-2 mark in the conference. York followed that with a 12-8 mark including 5-2 in the CAC in 2011. He combined with various teammates to notch a doubles record of 32-22 as he earned 65 victories for his career. Weber was a two-year captain for the Spartans, serving as the team leader during his junior and senior seasons.
Weber began his coaching career in 2006 as he assisted then-men’s coach Mark Ludwig and then-women's coach Tammy Myers in running their respective programs. He was responsible for running team practices with an emphasis on drills designed to improve specific shots. Weber also helped the Spartans improve with shot selection strategies.
Weber brings additional tennis experience from Wisehaven Tennis Center where he has worked in a number of capacities since 2004. He also has served as a teaching pro at various summer camps conducted throughout the York area since 2005.
