FROSTBURG, Md. – The York College women's tennis team ended their 2013 season with a 8-1 loss at Frostburg State University in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament on Sunday afternoon.
The Spartans finish the 2013 campaign with an overall record of 4-13 and a conference record of 1-4. The Bobcats improve to 8-8 overall and will move onto the next round of playoffs.
York fell in all three of its doubles matches to start of the day. The Spartans came close in the second and third doubles contests. Emily Price (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and Nikki Olson (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) came up just short with an 8-6 loss and then Lauren Valles (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) and Emily Skutnik (Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) suffered an 8-6 loss as well.
Price won the Spartans only points for the day after defeating Frostburg's Rachel Ober in three sets during singles competition. Price fell in the first set 4-6, but then came back for two 7-6 victories to win the match. Valles won her first set 6-4, but then eventually fell 6-2 and 7-6 to end the match.
