YORK, Pa. – The York College women's tennis team had their 2011-2012 come to a close Saturday with a 6-3 loss to Frostburg St. in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament. The defeat brings the Spartan record to 6-11 on the year while the Bobcats move on with a 6-9 mark.
Vlahos also picked up a singles victory to add a point to the Spartan ledger. Vlahos tallied a three-set 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 win in the fourth singles spot. The sophomore posted her eighth triumph of the year, tying her for the team-lead with doubles partner Olson.
Rookie Emily Price registered her sixth win of her first collegiate season as she recorded a 6-1, 6-0 result. Notably, Price went 6-3 this season including three straight to close the year.
The loss brings the tennis careers of Katelyn Acker and Samantha Brenner to a close. Acker departs the program after posting a 31 career singles victories including setting single-season wins records in both her sophomore (11) and junior (12) seasons. Each of her matches over her four seasons came in the first or second singles slots including 18 wins at number one. Brenner completes her times with the Spartans having won 21 singles matches, including 12 in third singles, and 18 in doubles.
