ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The York College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback at the hands of Capital Athletic Conference foe St. Mary's College of Maryland Tuesday in St. Mary's City, Md. With the loss, the Spartans drop to 5-8 (2-3 CAC) while the Seahawks improve to 12-4 (4-1 CAC).
Megan McCullin put together a valiant effort in the top singles spot. The Spartan junior, having previously played each of her ten singles matches in either the second or third slots this season, pushed St. Mary's Alexa Gaul to three sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-4).
Senior Samantha Brenner nearly stretched the second singles match to three sets but fell 6-2, 7-5.
York hits the courts again on Friday, April 13, for a 4:00 pm non-conference match at Gettysburg.
