York Posts 9-0 Triumph in CAC Victory

YORK, Pa. – The York College women's tennis team picked up their first Capital Athletic Conference victory of the 2012 campaign on Friday afternoon topping visiting Wesley 9-0 in York. With the triumph, the Spartans improve to 4-6 on the season and 1-2 in league play while the Wolverines drop to 0-3 and 0-2 in conference.

In first doubles, Katelyn Acker and Samantha Brenner secured an 8-2 victory while Megan McCullin and Emily Price, pairing for the first time this season, snagged an 8-1 victory at second doubles.

Singles action saw Acker collect the 6-0, 6-0 triumph in first singles and McCullin the two-set win in the second slot 6-0, 6-1.

Brenner garnered a point for the Green and White at third singles with an 8-4 victory while Arcondia Vlahos posted the fourth spot win 6-2, 6-0. Nicole Olson's 6-0, 6-0 performance gave the Spartans the fifth singles point. Vlahos and Olson each won their team-leading sixth singles matches of the season.

The Spartans return to action on Wednesday, April 4, when they travel to Goucher for a 3:30 pm non-conference match with the Gophers.

Note: Third doubles and sixth singles were won by York on default.
