YORK, PA – The York College women's tennis team concluded their fall campaign with a 6-2 loss to Division II Clarion University on a brilliantly sunny Friday afternoon in York. The Spartans fall to 1-2 while the Eagles improve to 1-1.
The Golden Eagles started the match by capturing two of the three doubles points. The Spartans' lone doubles victory came from the third doubles team of Sarah Wargo and Arcondia Vlahos as they posted an 8-4 win over Madeline Robinson and Brittany Bucheit.
Clarion then took the first three singles matches before York's Samantha Brenner earned a 10-8 win in the fourth singles match up against Madeline Robinson. The fifth singles match between Vlahos and Clarion's Brittany Bucheit was tied at 7-7 before being halted before completion. The Golden Eagles picked up an 11-9 win in the sixth singles match.
The Spartans resume their season on March 16, 2012 when they travel to the University of Mary Washington for a Capital Athletic Conference contest. Game time is slated for 5:30 pm.
