FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The York College women's tennis team traveled to Fredericksburg, VA. this past weekend for the USTA-ITA Southeast Regional Women's Tennis Championships.
Nicole Olson advanced in the main draw of the Blue 5 singles. She posted an 8-0 victory in the first round, followed by a 5-7, 6-3, 11-9 triumph in the second round to reach the semifinals. In the semifinal match, Olson defeated Nina Simic 6-0, 6-2. Olson fell in the finals 3-6, 1-6 to Christine Evangelista.
Arcondia Vlahos advanced to the finals of the Blue 4 singles consolation with an 8-2 and an 8-4 win before dropping in the final 5-8. Vlahos and fellow Spartan Samantha Brenner defeated Morgan Parks and Reba Sledd 8-4 in the Blue 3 doubles tournament before falling 6-8 to Eva Ng and Meghan Puryear.
Katelyn Acker picked up an 8-1 win in the consolation round. Sarah Wargo also advanced in the consolation round before falling in the semifinals. Megan McCullin and Kacie Weatherhead advanced to the doubles consolation semifinals where they dropped a close match 6-8.
