GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Katelyn Acker picked up her tenth singles victory of the season on Monday afternoon but the York College women's tennis team would fall to host Gettysburg 7-2 in a non-conference tilt. The Spartans, who are playing their fourth match in three days and fifth in five, drop to 8-6 on the season while the Bullets improve to 7-4.
With the match rescheduled from an earlier date due to inclement weather, the Spartans actually got off to a solid start as they were tied with Gettysburg after the first two doubles matches of the day. Acker and Sarah Wargo combined in the top doubles spot to secure a close 9-7 victory and post their sixth win together this season.
Acker's singles triumph came in the second slot as the junior picked up a 7-5, 6-4 straight-set win. That win gives her ten for the season, owning York's best singles record in 2011 with a 10-4 mark.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday, April 13, when they travel to Stevenson for a 3:30 pm Capital Athletic Conference match.
