YORK, Pa. – The York College women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss on Thursday afternoon to visiting Lebanon Valley in non-conference action. With the defeat, the Spartans fall to 6-4 on the season while the Flying Dutchmen improve to 7-5.
Stephanie Nelson put together a solid day for the Green and White as she picked up a pair of points. Teaming up with Nicole Olson in third doubles, the duo of Nelson and Olson captured an 8-4 triumph in just their first match together this year. In her singles match, Nelson secured the sixth singles win, her first triumph in two matches this season, with a three-set 7-6, 1-6, 6-2 result.
Freshman Sarah Wargo collected a point for the Spartans as she snagged the top singles spot. Wargo posted her fourth singles win of her rookie campaign with a 7-6 (7-0), 6-2 match.
The Green and White will look for a swift return to the win column as they are slated to play a bevy of matches this weekend. York begins with a pair of home Capital Athletic Conference matches on Saturday, April 9, as they host Wesley at 10:30 am and then Frostburg State at 1:00 pm. On Sunday, the Spartans host Catholic in a 3:30 pm non-conference tilt.
