Green and White Nab CAC Win at Wesley

DOVER, DE – The York College women’s tennis team collected a 9-0 sweep over Capital Athletic Conference foe Wesley in Dover, Del. Tuesday afternoon. The victory gives York a 2-5 record  (1-2 CAC) on the season while the Wolverines open the year at 0-1.

Sophomore #1 Katelyn Acker (Narvon, Pa./Pequea Valley) tallied the first position victory with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Rebecca Pennington.

Paige Doutrich (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) tallied a hard-fought win at second singles with a three set 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 win.

Samantha Brenner (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll), Megan McCullin (New Windsor, Md./Westminster Senior), and Maria McFaulds (North Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) each took straight set victories in the third through fifth slots.

Samantha Hunt (Albany, N.Y./Albany) tallied another three-set win at the sixth position with an extensive 7-5, 6-7, 10-8 triumph.

In doubles action, York nabbed three more tallies. Acker and Doutrich won at first doubles 8-4 while Brenner and McCullin combined in the #2 spot for a tough 9-7 win. McFaulds and Hunt garnered the third doubles point with an 8-4 win.

The Spartans now have a quick turnaround as they travel to Kutztown University on Thursday, March 18. The Green and White have a non-conference tilt with the Division II Golden Bears at 3:30 p.m.
