Spartans Blanked in Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, PA – The York College women’s tennis squad dropped a 9-0 result to Division II Kutztown University Thursday afternoon in Kutztown. The Spartan loss pulls the Green and White’s record down to 2-6 for the season while the Golden Bears currently stand at 3-4.

Despite the disappointing final result, the Spartans battled against their talented hosts.

York nearly took the third doubles spot as newcomers Maria McFaulds (North Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) and Samantha Hunt (Albany, N.Y./Albany) almost took down Chelsea White and Rachel Grula. However, the Spartan duo would fall just short, losing the match 9-8.

Hunt also put up a solid fight in the sixth singles position. In her abbreviate pro-set match, Hunt pushed the Golden Bears’ Tess Wright but would come up on the short end of an 8-6 result.

The Spartans will look to quickly forget this loss as they return to action tomorrow, Friday, March 19. York travels north to Penn State – Harrisburg for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference tilt.
