YORK, PA – York College sophomore women’s tennis player Katelyn Acker (Narvon, Pa./Pequea Valley) was selected to the 2010 All-Capital Athletic Conference squad after posting a terrific campaign. The Spartans’ top singles player was named to the all-league second-team after registered a team-best 11-6 mark this season as she played each of her 17 matches in the #1 spot.
Acker, who played each of her 17 matches in the #1 spot, appears on the all-conference list for the first time in her young career. Utilizing the quality experience she gained as a rookie last season, Acker parlayed her 2009 efforts into a very solid sophomore year. She became a tough force atop the lineup while continuing to improve upon the intricacies of the collegiate game.
As a team, the Spartans played to several 5-4 decisions – six in all – this season, posting a 4-2 record in those matches. Within singles play, Acker did her part in each of those six matches, going 6-0 in those tight contests.
Looking toward next season, Acker’s tremendous experience and success she has gained so early in her career should bode well for her and the entire Spartan squad heading into the 2011 campaign.
