GETTYSBURG, PA – The York College women’s tennis team fell hard Friday afternoon, ending on the short end of a 9-0 result against Gettysburg. With the defeat, the Spartans fall to 1-6 on the season, while the home Bullets up their mark to 4-3 in 2009.
    Freshman Katelyn Acker (Narvon, Pa./Pequea Valley), York’s #1 singles player, pushed Katie Taylor in the first set of their match but fell 7-6 (7-2). Taylor then secured the victory over Acker in the second set by a 6-2 count.
    Older sister Heidi Acker (Narvon, Pa./Pequea Valley) played nearly an opposite match. After dropping the first set 6-2, the elder Acker pushed Meghan Kelly into a second-set tiebreaker yet lost 7-6 (7-4).
    The Spartans next travel to Capital Athletic Conference foe Salisbury on Saturday, March 28. York and the Sea Gulls are set to square-off at 2:00 pm.
