Spartans Drop Season's Second Match 5-4
HILTON HEAD, SC - The York College
women’s tennis team took a tough 5-4 loss at the hands of St.
Vincent College Wednesday in Hilton Head, SC. The loss keeps the
Spartans winless in the early season as their record now stand at
0-2.
Megan Logan (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East)
notched her first win of the season taking third singles in a tight
7-6 (10-8), 6-3 match. Junior Heidi Acker (Narvon,
Pa./Pequea Valley) and freshman Stephanie Nelson
(Marriottsville, Pa./Liberty) also recorded wins in the
fifth and sixth flights respectively. Acker won her match 7-5, 6-2,
while Nelson was victorious going 6-1, 6-0.
With the match now tied heading into doubles play, only the team
of Nelson and Paige Doutrich (Gap, Pa./Pequea
Valley) was able to earn a victory. The duo won handily
8-1.
York finishes their trip to Hilton Head with a match against St.
John Fisher Thursday at noon.
