DOVER, DE - The York College women’s tennis team grabbed a 5-4 Capital Athletic Conference win Tuesday afternoon at Wesley College. The victory bumps the Spartans record to 3-8 (2-3 CAC) on the season while the Wolverines drop to 2-7 (0-6 CAC).
In singles play, Wesley earned wins in the top two flights but the Spartans captured the final four slots. Megan Logan (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) secured her third flight win 8-2 and moves to 4-6 on the year. Heidi Acker (Narvon, Pa./Pequea Valley) defeated Amanda Bynon 8-3 in the fourth slot while Stephanie Nelson (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) won in the fifth position 8-1. Caralyn Caruso (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County) finished the Spartans’ singles play with a win at number six, dropping Tara Spillane 8-1.
York needed only one win in doubles to secure the match victory and the third flight duo of Logan and Caruso provided the Spartans with just that. The pair won 8-1 and improves their record together to 2-0.
