|Title:||Head Swimming Coach|
York College is in the proces of hiring a new head men's and women's swim coach. Thank you for your interest in York College swimming. Please contact assistant coach Eric Naylor (firstname.lastname@example.org) for information about York College swimming.
Eric Naylor is beginning his third year on the York College men’s and women’s swimming coaching staff. Naylor is a dynamic young coach who has helped the Spartan program reach unprecedented heights.
Naylor came to the Spartan program from Shippensburg University where he was a highly decorated swimming for the Red Raiders. Over the course of his career, Naylor reached the finals in all 12 individual swims. He was the only swimmer in the history of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference to swim 9 different individual events and earn a berth in the finals. While at Shippensburg, Naylor recorded seven “B” cuts in the 100 and 200 fly, the 100 and 200 backstroke, the 200 and 400 IM and the 200 free. He owns Shippensburg University top 10 times in the 100 and 200 fly, the 100 backstroke, the 200 and 400 IM and the 1650 freestyle.
He graduated from Shippensburg in 2013 with a degree in geographic information systems.
Prior to Shippensburg, Naylor was a successful swimmer at Dover High School. He was a two-year captain for the Eagles as he reached the finals in 13 of a possible 16 events as the PIAA State Swim meet while he medaled in nine events. At the time of his graduation, he held the Dover High School team records in the 200-medley relay, the 400 free relay, the 100 backstroke, the 100 fly, and the 200 IM. He was a four-time high school All-American.
Naylor swam competitively for 17 seasons including competing for the Dover Area Aquatic Club from 1998 to 2005 followed by a two year stint at the York YMCA (YY) from 2005-2007. He then swam for the Northern York Aquatic Club (NYAC) and the West Shore YMCA (WSY) from 2007 to 2009 before heading to Shippensburg.
Naylor won a YMCA national championship in 2005 in the 100 backstroke (13-14 age group) and swam at nine YMCA national meets with 20 finals swims.
Naylor’s impact on the Spartan swim squad has been significant. He has helped current senior Kyle Walthall become the first Spartan in school history to earn a berth at the NCAA Division III championships. Walthall became the Spartans’ first Division III Swimming All-American as a sophomore and repeated that feat as a junior in 2015. Naylor has worked with the stroke and IM groups during his time on the Spartan staff. The Spartans have had four swimmers earn NCAA “B” cut times and has coached a pair of CAC champions. The Spartans have broken 19 team records in the last two years.
Naylor lives in Dover and is engaged to be married to fiancé Lauren Crawford. In his time away from the pool, he enjoys carpentry and working on automobiles.
