Women's Swimming Opens Strong at CAC Championships

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md- The York College women's swim team started the CAC Championships on the right note.  The three-day championship will feature plenty of action throughout the weekend.

Lindsey Buglino (Wharton, N.J. / Jefferson) started the day off in the 500 free prelims with a time of 5:16.07 to take fourth.  Buglino was able to come back in the finals and nab 5th place with a time of 5:16.39.  Courtney Dacheux (Dover, Pa. / Dover)  was also a point scorer for York with an 8th place grab in the 50 free.  She was able to finish the event in 25.48, and with her prelim time of 25.25, Dacheux was able to set herself up for a nice weekend.

For the relays on the first day, York faced strong competition. In the 200 free relay the team of Kelsie Pike (Newark, Del. / St. Mark's), Megan Shannon (), Dacheux, and Buglino took 4th.  The team was able to finish in the top pack with a time of 1:42.73.    In the 400 medley relay the team raced hard for a 5th place finish.  The team consisting of Murphy, Dacheux, Pike, and Buglino helped propel York to a time of 4:16.37.

The Spartans capped the first day of competition with 118 points to sit them in fourth.  The women are just 13 points outside third with more competition to come on Saturday and Sunday evening.  Live results for the CAC Championships will continue to run at this link.
