Washington & Jefferson Swims By the Spartans 156-98
YORK, Pa. – The York College women's swim team fell to Washington & Jefferson 156-98 in a non-conference meet on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss the Spartans are now 0-6 on the season.
The Green and White started out the day with a second place finish in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:01.77. The relay was made up of Chelsea Ross (Paoli, Pa./PA Cyber), Courtney Dacheux (Dover, Pa./Dover), Kelsie Pike (Newark, Del./St. Mark's) and Casenya Stone (Annandale, Va./The New School Of Northern Virginia).
Top finishers for the Spartans included Dacheux and Lindsey Buglino (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson). Dacheux swam to a first place finish in the 50 yard breaststroke recording a time of 34.04. She also came in second swimming 26.40 in the 50 yard freestyle. Buglino earned herself a first place finish with a time of 1:14.05 in the 100 yard breaststroke and also finished third in the 50 yard breaststroke touching the wall at 34.71.
Stone swam to a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle and a third place finish in the 100 yard butterfly with times of 57.05 and 1:07.49 respectively.
Ross also swam well in the 200 yard freestyle. She finished in second place swimming 2:02.15.
For the distance races, Jenny Hinkle (Olney, Md./Sherwood) looked strong. She earned an early second place finish in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 19:07.45. Later in the day Hinkle then swam to a third place finish in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:43.32.
The Spartans return to action on Friday, November 30 at home against Salisbury and Goucher. The meet is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
