Spartans Fall in Quad Meet

YORK, Pa. – The York College women's swimming team suffered a tough Saturday as they fell to Dickinson, Susquehanna, and St. Mary's (Md.) 132-72, 126-76, and 114-90, respectively. The losses drop the Spartans to a 1-5 record (1-3 CAC) in this young season.

Despite the final results, the Spartan effort was led by junior Chelsea Ross and freshmen Courtney Dacheux and Lindsey Buglino.

Ross swam a quality 200-yard freestyle, completing the race in 2:02.34, which was good for a second-place overall finish.

The youth of the Spartans showed promise as Dacheux sprinted her 50-yard freestyle in an astounding 25.83, garnering a second-place finish.

Buglino placed fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke event. She completed her eight laps in an impressive 2:41.25, warranting a third place finish.

In the distance events Michaela Guild and Jenny Hinkle had quality efforts in the 1000 freestyle. In the 1000, Guild posted an 11:21.03 and Hinkle recorded an 11:37.06.

The Green and White look to rebound when they return to the water Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2:00. Washington and Jefferson visit the York College Natatorium for a 2:00 pm non-conference meet.
