ARLINGTON, Va. – The York College women's swimming team fell to Marymount (Va.) Saturday afternoon 165-97 in Arlington, Va. With the loss, just one day after York's season-opener on Friday evening, the Spartans fall to 1-2 on the season with each of their three results coming against Capital Athletic Conference opponents.
Despite the loss, Spartan senior Michaela Guild put together a great performance for the Green and White. Guild took first in a pair of events while grabbing second in another and helping York's 400 freestyle relay squad to a second-place time. The senior posted a 2:05.32 to win the 200 free and an 11:26.27 in the 1,000 freestyle. Guild would go on to snag second in the 500 free (5:33.63) before aiding in the final Green and White relay.
Dacheux snagged an individual runner-up time in the 50 free. The Spartan rookie posted a 26.08 while Stone came in third in the event with a 26.24.
Sophomore Kelsie Pike registered a pair of second-place finishes, taking the silver in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke. In the 100, Pike registered a 1:15.63 while recording a 2:41.15. Newcomer Lindsey Buglino followed Pike in both events taking third with times of 1:16.60 and 2:44.55, respectively.
York recorded two more second-place times as Ross collected second in the 100 freestyle and Kathy Murphy notched second in the 200 back. In the 100 free, Ross posted a 58.15, just ahead of Stone's third-place 58.49. Murphy's 200 back time of 2:27.87 was the second-best time of the day while freshman Megan Murphy notched third with a 2:31.90.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, November 12, when they host of pair of squads at York College's Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center. The Green and White welcome Susquehanna along with CAC foe St. Mary's (Md.) in a 2:00 pm tilt.
